Mark’s intuitive understanding of what is required from a score, his inventive ability to interpret a production’s creative aspirations and his amiable capacity for creative collaboration keep Mark very much in demand from industry professionals.

Stylistically innovative and always ready to experiment with ideas, he is constantly aware of the appropriate contextual and commercial requirements of score writing, staying at the forefront of technology and musical style.

He is classically trained, yet Mark’s fresh musical versatility spans the complete spectrum of musical styles, from jazz, rock, folk, choral, electro acoustic, sampled and synthesised scores to full scale symphonic film scores.

After studying music composition and orchestration at university, Mark played violin with the London Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, then joined the Royal Ballet Orchestra as co - leader and was invited to join the original orchestra for Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom Of The Opera.
During this period and beyond he worked with Jerry Goldsmith, James Horner, John Barry, Michael Kamen, Alan Silvestri and John Williams in the recording studio.
Now he composes his own unique scores for movies and television shows to worldwide critical acclaim.

In 2009, Mark was invited to be the external examiner for the postgraduate film score composition course at the National Film and Television School.
Mark won a Bafta award for his score to the cult British comedy feature Twin Town and he has subsequently been nominated many times for his music scores. Mark was nominated for a Primetime Emmy in the Outstanding Main Title Music category for his memorable theme for the Showtime / BBC2 comedy series Episodes.
He has successfully scored many feature films including Dog Soldiers, Agent Cody Banks II for MGM, the Magic Roundabout Movie for Pathé / Miramax, Shadows in the Sun, Greyfriars Bobby and the dark horror feature Wilderness for Ecosse Films. He recently scored Flicka 3 and Marley And Me 2 for 20th Century Fox. Mark is as comfortable writing for a full symphony orchestra as he is with a rock band, jazz ensemble, choral group or modern sample / synth based score - his musical skills are applicable to all categories of entertainment and his capacity for musical innovation is well known. Apart from his feature films credits, his work in television is extensive, particularly in the categories of comedy, drama and animation and as well as scoring documentary series he has also composed for the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Mark wrote music and lyrics for the top 20 single ‘Life’s A Treat‘ his theme from the worldwide phenomenon Shaun The Sheep.

Shaun The Sheep from the world famous Aardman Animation Studios is now recognised globally and to date, Mark has composed the music for 150 episodes, 35 short form episodes and the new half hour special Shaun The Sheep – The Farmer’s Llamas.

Mark’s music is also heard on the Shaun The Sheep Movie and his theme song ‘Life’s A Treat ‘ was remixed by the pop band Rizzle Kicks.
